How to play
Tile Fuse is a merge puzzle on a glowing circuit board. Slide all the chips in one direction — up, down, left or right. When two chips with the same number collide, they fuse into one chip of double the value. After every move a new little chip drops onto the board.
- Desktop: arrow keys.
- Phone / tablet: swipe anywhere on the board.
- Goal: fuse your way from humble 2-chips to the legendary 2048 chip — then keep going for the high score.
- You lose when the board fills up and no two neighboring chips match.
Strategy corner
Random swiping gets you to 128. Getting to 2048 takes a plan:
- Pick a home corner. Keep your biggest chip parked in one corner and never move it. Most strong players commit to two directions (say, down and left) and use the other two only when forced.
- Build in ladders. Arrange chips in descending order snaking away from your corner — 512, 256, 128, 64 — so each new fuse cascades into the next.
- Don't chase every small fuse. A tempting 4+4 in the wrong column can shove your whole formation out of shape. Board shape beats quick points.
- Count before you're full. When only two or three cells remain open, slow down and check every direction's outcome before you commit.
Your best score is stored on your device only (see the privacy policy) — beat it, brag, repeat.
Planning merges ahead
The strategy corner gets you a formation; this is how to run it. The engine has two quiet rules worth internalizing:
- One fuse per chip, per move. A chip that just fused won't fuse again until your next swipe. Slide a row of four 2s left and you get 4 · 4, never an 8 — and the pair nearer the wall merges first. Use that: lining up 4-4-4-4 is really a two-move plan for a pair of 8s, so leave room for the second step.
- Know the spawn odds. Nine new chips out of ten are a 2; one in ten is a 4. That surprise 4 is what wrecks tidy ladders, so keep at least one "junk lane" — a row or column where a stray chip can land without touching your big-chip corner.
Scoring rewards patience too: every fuse adds the new chip's value to your score, so one 2048 chip has quietly paid you across its entire chain of merges. And since there's no undo, treat a nearly-full board like chess — when two or three cells remain, read all four directions before you swipe, because the move you can't take back is the one that locks the board.
Quick questions
Does it play well on a phone? Yes — swipe anywhere on the board. Short taps are deliberately ignored, so resting a finger won't fire an accidental move.
Where is my best score saved? In your browser's local storage, on your device only. No accounts, no cloud sync — clearing browser data clears the record too.
Can I play offline? Once the page is loaded, everything runs locally in your browser. Losing your connection mid-game changes nothing.
Is there an undo button? No, and that's on purpose. Committing to each swipe is the puzzle — undo would turn planning into trial-and-error.
About this game
Tile Fuse spent weeks on our homepage as a blurred card called "Mystery Puzzle." Now the pieces are carved: it's the third cabinet in our arcade, alongside Sky Runner and Neon Breaker. The sliding-and-doubling family of puzzles is a classic of the genre — our take dresses it as a circuit board where chips fuse into bigger silicon, in the same handwritten vanilla-JavaScript style as everything else here: no engine, no framework, no ads chasing you around, nothing to install.
