How to play
Neon Breaker is a classic brick-breaker rebuilt for the browser with a synthwave coat of paint. Move the paddle to keep the ball in play, smash every brick on the grid, and clear all five levels before your three lives run out.
- Desktop: move your mouse left and right, or use the arrow keys. Press P or Space to pause.
- Phone / tablet: touch and drag anywhere on the play field โ the paddle follows your finger, so your hand never covers the action.
- Angles are aim: where the ball lands on the paddle decides where it goes next. Center hits go straight up; edge hits fire out at sharp angles. That's your steering wheel.
Scoring & combos
Every brick is worth points, and tougher bricks (the double-glow ones take two hits) are worth more. The real scores come from combos: every brick you break without the ball touching your paddle raises a multiplier โ ร2, ร3, ร4 and beyond. Send the ball into a pocket behind the wall and watch it rack up glow after glow.
Your best score is saved on your device (nowhere else โ see our privacy policy), so you always have a number to beat.
The five grids
- Level 1 โ Warm-up Wall: a straight grid to find your angles.
- Level 2 โ The Checkerboard: gaps let the ball slip through โ and back down.
- Level 3 โ The Fortress: armored bricks guard the soft core.
- Level 4 โ The Diamond: a shape that loves to return the ball where you aren't.
- Level 5 โ Full Grid: everything at once, faster ball, no mercy.
About this game
Neon Breaker started life on this site as a blurred wireframe card called "Project: Neon." It's now the second cabinet in our arcade, joining Sky Runner. Like everything we build, it's handwritten vanilla JavaScript on a single canvas โ no game engine, no framework, no tracking scripts, nothing to download. It weighs less than a single photo on most websites.
We're Webmaster & More, a small web studio in Los Angeles. The arcade is our playground and our portfolio: if a three-person team can ship fast, polished software for fun, imagine what we ship for clients. Read the build notes on the dev log.
